Most remodeling and cleanout debris is fine to load. The limits come from California's ban on hazardous waste in the trash and from what the receiving site accepts.
California bans hazardous waste from the garbage, storm drains, and open ground. That covers paint, paint thinner and other solvents, antifreeze, motor oil and filters, pesticides, weed killers, and aerosol cans marked toxic or flammable. Fluorescent tubes, LED lamps, and every type of battery are out as well.
Electronics stay out too. Televisions, monitors, computer towers, printers, radios, microwaves, and phones all count. Tires are banned from the trash across the state, and asbestos in older roofing, flooring, siding, and cement needs specialist handling.
Kingsburg holds a household hazardous waste drop-off event at the Public Works yard on Kern Street, and residents need proof of city residency to use it. Paint, batteries, and old electronics belong there rather than in your container.
