Most household junk and remodel debris is fine to load. California's disposal rules and the county landfill's refusal list set the limits.
The Prima Deshecha Landfill won't accept asbestos, batteries, chemicals, paint, pesticides, fuel, or fuel tanks. It also turns away tires, medical waste, contaminated soil, and liquid waste. California bans many of the same items from the trash, including fluorescent tubes, motor oil, antifreeze, and electronics.
Hazardous waste, liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, and asbestos don't belong in any dumpster. Keep tires separate and ask us how to handle them.
Orange County residents can drop off household hazardous waste for free at the county collection center at 32250 Avenida La Pata in San Juan Capistrano. It's open Tuesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and closes on major holidays and in rainy weather.
If an item on your list seems questionable, check with your account manager before it goes in the container.
