Most debris from a remodel or cleanout can go in. The limits come from California's statewide list of wastes banned from the trash.
CalRecycle's list covers all batteries, fluorescent tubes, LED lights, latex and oil-based paint, solvents, pool chemicals, pesticides, antifreeze, and motor oil and filters. It also includes tires, asbestos, treated wood, propane tanks, and electronics such as TVs, monitors, laptops, and cell phones.
Hazardous waste, liquids, and fuel can't go in a standard dumpster either. Walnut residents can take paint, cleaners, thermostats, and similar items to free Los Angeles County household hazardous waste roundups, which are held on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
If you're unsure about an item, check with your account manager before it goes in.
