Most construction debris and household junk is fine. What you can't load comes from California's landfill rules and the limits at Orange County's landfills.
Hazardous waste, liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, and asbestos can't go in a standard dumpster. Motor oil stays out too. Santa Ana residents can set used motor oil out for special curbside collection instead.
Orange County's landfills take waste only from inside the county, and every load has to be covered or tied down on the way in. Treated wood, like old fence posts and pressure-treated deck boards, needs special handling, so mention it when you book.
Recycling rules can also shape what goes where. The state's green building code requires many construction projects to recycle or reuse at least 65 percent of their debris. Keeping clean concrete, metal, and wood separate makes that easier.
