Most construction and demolition debris can go in. What stays out is set by California's trash bans and the rules at the Del Norte station.
State law says hazardous waste can't go in the garbage. That includes all types of batteries, fluorescent tubes, paint, thinners, pool chemicals, pesticides, and motor oil and filters. TVs, computers, and other electronics are banned from the trash too. California also keeps tires out of the trash.
On older homes, watch for asbestos in roofing, flooring, siding, and cement board. Wood treated with chemical preservatives counts as hazardous waste. Propane tanks and other gas cylinders need special handling, and liquids and fuel can't go in either.
Del Norte takes some items separately, like tires, appliances, dry mattresses, and clean carpet, so mention them when you book.
