The 15-Yard Dumpster handles a garage cleanout, new flooring through part of the house, or a small roof tear-off.
The 20-Yard Dumpster is a common pick in Santa Maria for whole-house cleanouts and remodels that cover several rooms.

The City requires an encroachment permit for work in the public right-of-way. The Department of Public Works, Engineering Division, handles it from 110 South Pine Street, Suite 221.

CalRecycle lists items that are banned from the trash in California. The list includes every type of battery, fluorescent and LED lamps, paint, solvents, pesticides, antifreeze, motor oil, propane tanks, and electronics. Tires, asbestos, and treated wood with chemical preservatives are on it too.
The City's landfill also refuses five items outright: explosives, friable asbestos, liquid waste, infectious waste, and radioactive material. Hazardous waste, liquids, and fuel can't go in a standard dumpster either.
Residents can take household hazardous waste to the landfill for free on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Each trip is limited to 15 gallons of liquid or 125 pounds of dry waste, in closed containers of five gallons or less.
