Most construction and household debris is fine to load. The limits come from California's trash bans and from Orange County's landfill rules.
CalRecycle, the state recycling agency, keeps a list of waste banned from the trash. It covers every kind of battery, fluorescent tubes, TVs, computers, and monitors. It also covers paint, solvents, pesticides, pool chemicals, motor oil, antifreeze, tires, asbestos, and treated wood.
Orange County's Olinda Alpha Landfill adds its own list of refused items. It won't take asbestos, batteries, chemicals, fuel, tires, paint, pesticides, contaminated soil, or liquid waste. It also refuses treated wood.
Hazardous waste, liquids, and propane tanks can't go in a standard dumpster either. Orange County runs free household hazardous waste collection centers for many of these items.
