Most debris from a remodel, cleanout, or yard project is fine to load. California's disposal rules decide what isn't.
CalRecycle keeps a list of items banned from the trash, and those same items can't go in a dumpster. It covers fluorescent tubes and LED bulbs, every kind of battery, paint and paint thinner, aerosol cans that still hold product, pesticides, pool chemicals, motor oil, antifreeze, and propane tanks.
Some building materials are on the list too. Wood treated with chemical preservatives, which is common in older fences and decks, has to be handled as hazardous waste. So does asbestos, which can turn up in older roofing, flooring, siding, and cement. Tires and electronics, including TVs and computers, need their own recycling route as well.
Hazardous waste, liquids, solvents, and fuel are never allowed in a standard dumpster. If you have questions about a specific item, your account manager can sort it out before delivery.
