Most debris from a remodel, roof job, or cleanout can go straight into your container. California's waste rules and the facility that receives the load decide what stays out.
The state's Department of Toxic Substances Control classifies several everyday items as universal waste, and none of them can go in the trash or a landfill. That list covers batteries, electronics, old TVs and monitors, fluorescent tubes and other lamps, mercury items like thermostats, aerosol cans that aren't empty, and solar panels.
California also asks residents to keep organic waste separate from trash. In Temple City, that means the green cart for yard trimmings and food scraps, while the black cart holds regular garbage. If your project produces a big pile of branches or yard debris, mention it when you book so we can plan for it.
Hazardous waste, liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, and asbestos don't belong in a standard dumpster either. Used mattresses and box springs are handled through the state's mattress recycling program, so flag them ahead of time.
